Prime Minister Narendra Modi made his first visit to Chhattisgarh after assuming office as the Prime Minister in 2019, inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of eight projects with a combined value of approximately ₹7,600 crore.

Addressing a gathering in Raipur, PM Modi described the occasion as a historic day in the developmental journey of Chhattisgarh. He stated that the state was receiving a gift of projects worth over ₹7,000 crore, which would contribute to infrastructure development and improve connectivity, ultimately making the lives of the people of Chhattisgarh easier.

PM Modi highlighted the central government's commitment to creating new opportunities in regions rich in natural resources. He emphasized that the government's initiatives have strengthened industrialization in Chhattisgarh, leading to economic growth and prosperity.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister mentioned the technological advancements in the state. He noted that about nine years ago, over 20% of villages in Chhattisgarh lacked mobile connectivity. However, this figure has significantly decreased to approximately 6% at present, showcasing progress in digital connectivity.

During his speech, PM Modi expressed his condolences to the victims of a bus accident that occurred en route to the rally venue. Three individuals lost their lives, while six others sustained injuries in a collision between their bus and a stationary truck. The Prime Minister paid tribute to the deceased and assured that all necessary assistance would be provided to the injured individuals, wishing them a speedy recovery.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel expressed his sorrow over the accident and announced an ex-gratia payment of ₹4 lakh to the families of each deceased person. As part of the visit, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for three National Highway projects related to the Chhattisgarh section of the 6-lane greenfield Raipur-Visakhapatnam corridor. Additionally, he inaugurated the doubling of the 103-km Raipur-Khariar Road Rail Line, which was constructed at a cost of ₹750 crore.

Moreover, the Prime Minister distributed 75 lakh cards to beneficiaries under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which aims to provide healthcare coverage to economically vulnerable individuals. Upon his arrival at the Raipur airport, PM Modi was welcomed by Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan and Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, further highlighting the significance of his visit to the state.
